Absolutely Surrendered
By Shane Miller on March 19th, 2017
To introduce myself, I am Shane Miller. My life has been a journey of trust. I grew up in the Church of God. My grandfather, Reverend H. E. Boyette, was a pastor for more than 40 years. His life left not only an inspiring legacy for me, but thousands were inspired by his love, testimony, and unwavering belief in God. Yet, even though my heritage is amazing, I have allowed hurt and disappointments to blind me. I walked away, well ran away to be precise. I went where I was told not to go. I learned more about the world than I ever wanted to. I now know that the tree in the garden of Eden is way over rated.
Through it all, Jesus made a way to cause me to be willing and able to obey. He has set my feet, equipped me with His armor, and made straight His way before me. I am honored to share with you a short message that I myself was honored to receive by my best friend, Holy Spirit.
It began with the one simple question: How did I get here?
So many times, sin so suddenly slips into our lives and by the time it’s realized, that is exactly what we say; how did I get here. When becoming a Christian, there’s a line that is drawn in the sand. Its purpose is to separate us from the things of the world. Making us mindful that though we are in this world we are no longer of this world, but rather of Christ Jesus. Through our daily life and struggles, without notice, the line begins to be erased, storms come, sand shifts, and the line is gone.
Often, we are attempting to be both in the world and of the world while declaring we are too of God. I think it’s wise to remember Christ drew the people not because He wore the latest robe or the newest sandals. The people came because His actions displayed the power which proved His position. The anointing will always break the yoke, loose the chains of the captive, heal the sick and broken hearted. The anointing will always reveal His power and prove His position. He is Lord. Beneath the appearance of the world, is broken hearts and unfulfilled lives.
As Christians, it’s time we go back to bethel. Go back to that place where we first built an alter before God, the place of surrender, the place where the line was drawn. Let’s proclaim His Glory in a way that reveals to the world the Christ in Us. He did not come to condemn the world, yet His purpose in dying on the cross freed us from sin, not to sin. I love my God, and therefore I choose to believe it, and live it out loud.
